What FitCV does?: features in plain language

A full tour of job alignment vs résumé-first flows, what you get back from analysis, and how FitCV fits into real hiring stack realities.

What FitCV does?: features in plain language

FitCV is the front door to structured résumé and job-fit analysis in the browser. This post is a feature tour grounded in what actually happens after you click Upload - and why we built the flows this way.

Two ways to run analysis

Job alignment (targeted)

You choose industry, role, and skills using a taxonomy-backed picker - not free text guesswork. That matters because hiring at scale is filter-driven: recruiter-facing ATS research commonly shows heavy use of keyword and skills filters when searching inside large candidate pools.

Use this path when you already know the direction you are pursuing and want feedback on fit against that target.

Résumé-first (CV emphasis)

You emphasize the résumé itself. The flow only asks for criteria the analysis engine needs, so you can still get strong feedback while you are iterating on the document or narrowing your search.

What comes back

After upload, analysis runs against an external Resume Shortlister engine. In practical terms you should expect:

  • Scores and structured signals that summarize how your materials land.
  • Narrative-style notes aimed at gaps and strengths - not a single unexplained number.
  • A presentation layer that prioritizes readability on mobile and desktop.

FitCV orchestrates the pipeline: uploads, session handling, rate limits, CORS, and the React client experience. The deep scoring models live upstream - our job is to make the experience fast, legible, and honest.

No account for the core path

We intentionally avoid forcing account creation to see your first meaningful result. That choice sits against a market where tooling often monetizes anxiety - and where public hiring data shows long search durations and high application counts for many seekers.

Status, help, and operations

  • Service status can surface when upstream dependencies are unhealthy - because silent failure is worse than a clear message.
  • Help routes to the team; outbound mail uses Resend when configured, with a disk-backed queue so messages are not dropped quietly if email fails.

How this maps to real hiring pressure

Public summaries of hiring funnels frequently describe:

  • Large applicant volumes per posting in competitive markets (exact means vary by dataset, but triple-digit volumes are common in popular roles).
  • ATS screening as a first gate at major employers - another reason we emphasize parse-friendly structure alongside human readability.

FitCV will not guarantee an interview. It will help you iterate with clearer intent against those realities.
