Job alignment
Resume
Upload the resume you are tailoring for this application.
PDF, DOCX, or DOC. Max size follows server config.
Important: Your resume must include a clearly visible email address in the document body. Files without an on-resume email may not complete successfully.
Job alignment answers a sharper question than “is my CV nice?”—it asks how your résumé reads against a concrete target: industry, role, and skills you choose from a structured taxonomy, optionally with a job description pasted in.
You get scores and plain-language notes aimed at gaps and strengths for that target. Feedback is automated guidance for your iteration loop, not a hiring decision and not a promise that any employer’s ATS will advance you.
How the flow works
Upload a text-extractable résumé (PDF is typical). Choose industry and role, pick the skills that matter for the posting you have in mind, and optionally paste the job description so wording overlap is easier to discuss.
Analysis runs when you start it. Results open in a session view you can read on mobile or desktop; you can export a PDF summary for your own notes. Session result URLs are not meant for public indexing.
Example of useful signal (illustrative)
Suppose you target a customer success role but your résumé leads with generic “team player” language and buries CRM tools in a skills cloud. Alignment notes might push you to surface named platforms, book-of-business scale, and escalation examples higher in the experience section—so both humans and keyword filters can find them.
Another common pattern: applying to data roles with projects described only as “built dashboards.” Stronger evidence names the stack, the decision the dashboard supported, and the size of the dataset or audience.
Limitations to keep in mind
Taxonomy labels will not match every niche title on Earth. Pick the closest honest bucket. Scanned image-only PDFs may parse poorly. Upstream analysis can be unavailable; when that happens we prefer a clear error over a fake score.
Referrals and portfolio proof still outperform cold apply in most public hiring summaries. Use alignment to waste fewer cold applications—not to replace networking.
FAQ
- Do I need a job description?
- Optional but helpful. Industry, role, and skills already anchor the run; a JD adds posting-specific language.
- Is this the same as an employer ATS score?
- No. Employers use their own systems and cutoffs. FitCV gives structured feedback you can act on before you apply.
- Will my file be published?
- No. Résumés are processed for your session; they are not posted for other visitors to browse.
